An Introduction to Yoga
Three Sunday Workshops with Georgina
18, 25 November & 2 December 2012
at O2 Yoga in Vich
Have you been thinking about starting yoga for a while but are unsure about what class to take? Are you taking classes but interested in covering the basics in more depth? Are you interested in developing a home practice that suits your own needs and lifestyle?
In regular group classes there is not always the possibility to slow down, understand why we do things or ask questions. This three part series of fun, informal workshops, accessible to everyone, will give us the space to do that. Each session will include a practical exploration of breathing, postures and relaxation, as well as a short theoretical discussion.
Session 1: Basic Principles of Yoga
18 November 2012, 15h00 - 17h30
We will discuss the origins and benefits of yoga, as well as the different styles that exist, so you can choose what is right for you. We will review the basic principles of yoga to ensure you gain the most out of your practice, and explore some key postures, yogic breathing and relaxation, to familiarise ourselves with the core elements of most yoga classes.
Session 2: Yoga and Living
25 November, 15h00 - 17h30
In Session 2 we will take a look at the ‘eight limbs of yoga’ and how yoga practice is as much about how we live our lives 'off the mat' as what we do 'on the mat'. We will then focus on practising with ease and steadiness and develop sequences of movement in coordination with the breath to help focus the mind, build awareness and balance our energy for the ups and downs of everyday life.
Session 3: Restorative Yoga and Meditation
2 December 2012, 15h00 - 17h30
In Session 3 we will explore the breath further and benefits of different breathing techniques. We will have an introduction to meditation and deeply restful restorative yoga - key techniques to physical and mental health, and to unlocking your true potential.
All 3 sessions = CHF 195
Single session = CHF 70
